Why is AKTU Implementing This?

The goal is clear: To prevent malpractice, ensure fairness, and digitize the examination system.

During the first phase of exams conducted between May 13 and June 16, 2025, the university successfully implemented this system with the help of UPDESCO and its authorized agency M/s Securaprint Pvt. Ltd., Faridabad. Based on its success, AKTU has decided to extend this to all future exams.

Key Highlights of the Circular

1. Face Biometric Attendance

Each student must undergo real-time face recognition verification before being allowed to sit in the examination. This prevents impersonation and ensures only enrolled students appear for the exams.

2. Barcode Scanning on OMR Sheets

Barcodes printed on admit cards, question papers, and answer sheets will be scanned for real-time record matching. This enhances tracking and eliminates mismatches in student records.

3. Live CCTV Surveillance

Every exam room must be under 24/7 surveillance via CCTV cameras. The video will be live-streamed and recorded for audit purposes. Institutions must keep cameras and DVRs in working condition at all times.

4. Responsibility of Institutions

All technical equipment already installed during the first exam phase must be maintained and operational. Any damage or failure to comply will be the sole responsibility of the respective institutions.

5. NAAC Team Visit

The circular also states that NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) will visit between June 17–19, 2025, and will review the E-Attendance and E-Surveillance systems at the centers. Hence, the setup must be functional during this period.

What Does It Mean for Students?

  • Arrive early at the exam center to complete the biometric verification process.
  • Keep your admit card and college ID ready at all times.
  • Cooperate with the officials and follow all instructions for biometric and barcode scanning.
  • Do not try any unfair means – you’re being recorded in real-time!

This step will bring more discipline to the exam environment and reduce the chances of cheating or impersonation.

Instructions for Colleges & Centers

  • Ensure CCTV cameras and biometric machines are working without interruption.
  • Maintain the integrity of the barcode scanning and biometric attendance setup.
  • Assist the team from M/s Securaprint Pvt. Ltd. when they arrive for technical support.
  • Make staff available to monitor CCTV and address student queries.
  • Be prepared for the NAAC review with a fully functional surveillance setup.

Institutes that fail to comply may face strict penalties or disqualification as exam centers.

Why This Move is Beneficial

  • Transparency: Real-time monitoring removes any scope for cheating.
  • Accountability: Every student’s data is securely tracked and stored.
  • Fairness: No impersonation or substitution is possible.
  • Modernization: This takes AKTU’s exam process a step closer to full digitalization.

Such measures are aligned with national education goals to promote digital infrastructure and robust exam systems.
