AKTU Makes ABC ID Mandatory for Newly Admitted Students of 2026–27 Session: Complete Details, Deadline, Registration Process & Official Notice

AKTU has made Academic Bank of Credits (ABC ID) mandatory for all newly admitted students of the 2026-27 academic session. Read the official notification, eligibility, registration process, deadline, benefits, and important instructions.

Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), Lucknow, has released an important notification for students studying in affiliated colleges across Uttar Pradesh. According to the latest circular, the university has instructed all affiliated institutions to ensure that every newly admitted student of the 2026–27 academic session creates an Academic Bank of Credits (ABC ID). The instruction also applies to students from previous academic sessions who are currently studying but have not yet generated an ABC ID.

This decision has been taken in line with the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, under the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The university has clearly stated that generating an ABC ID is now an essential academic requirement, and colleges have been directed to complete the process within the prescribed timeline.

If you are an AKTU student or have recently taken admission for the 2026–27 session, this update directly concerns you. In this article, we explain what the notification means, why the ABC ID is important, who needs to register, the deadline, and how you can create your ABC ID without any confusion.

What is the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC)?

The Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) is a digital platform introduced by the Government of India as part of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Think of it as a secure digital repository that stores the academic credits earned by students during their higher education.

Instead of maintaining credits only on paper or within a single university, the ABC system keeps them digitally linked to a student’s unique ABC ID. This allows students to carry their academic achievements throughout their educational journey.

The concept has been introduced to make higher education more flexible and student-friendly. It supports credit transfer, multiple entry and exit options, and easier movement between recognized higher education institutions.

Why Has AKTU Issued This Notification?

AKTU has issued this notification to ensure that every eligible student is registered under the Academic Bank of Credits system.

The circular directs all affiliated colleges to verify and update the ABC ID details of eligible students. The university has also emphasized that the process should not be delayed because it has now become an important requirement for academic activities.

This initiative is part of the nationwide implementation of digital academic records and is expected to improve transparency, portability, and accessibility of students’ educational achievements.

Who Needs to Generate an ABC ID?

According to the official AKTU notification, the following students are required to create an ABC ID:

  • Students taking admission in the 2026–27 academic session
  • Students admitted in previous academic sessions who are still pursuing their courses but have not yet generated an ABC ID

If you already have a valid ABC ID linked with your academic records, you do not need to generate another one. However, students who have never registered must complete the process as soon as possible.

ABC ID is Mandatory for Examination Form Submission

One of the most important announcements mentioned in the notification is that students without an ABC ID will not be able to fill their examination forms.

This means that even if you are otherwise eligible to appear for examinations, the absence of a valid ABC ID may prevent you from completing the examination registration process.

Students should therefore avoid waiting until the last moment and complete the registration well before the deadline.

AKTU Deadline

The university has instructed all affiliated colleges to update the required information through the prescribed Google Form by 31 July 2026.

Colleges have been made responsible for ensuring that eligible students complete the ABC ID registration process before this deadline.

Responsibilities of Affiliated Colleges

The official circular places several responsibilities on affiliated institutions. Colleges are expected to:

  • Ensure every eligible student has an ABC ID
  • Verify the accuracy of student details
  • Upload the required information through the Google Form shared by AKTU
  • Complete the entire process before the specified deadline
  • Follow the User Manual attached with the notification for proper implementation

Why is an ABC ID Important?

Although many students see it as another registration process, the Academic Bank of Credits has several long-term benefits.

An ABC ID helps students maintain a permanent digital record of their academic credits. If a student changes institutions or continues higher education elsewhere, the earned credits can be accessed and transferred more efficiently.

Some of the major advantages include:

  • Secure digital storage of academic credits
  • Easy access through DigiLocker
  • Better implementation of NEP 2020 reforms
  • Support for multiple entry and exit options
  • Simplified credit transfer between recognized institutions
  • Reduced paperwork during academic verification
  • Lifelong academic identity linked to higher education

As the education system becomes more digital, the ABC ID is expected to play an increasingly important role.

How to Create an ABC ID

Students can generate their ABC ID online in just a few minutes.

Step 1: Visit the official Academic Bank of Credits portal.

Step 2: Sign in using your DigiLocker account. If you do not have one, create a DigiLocker account using your Aadhaar-linked mobile number.

Step 3: Complete the Aadhaar verification process.

Step 4: Verify your personal and educational information carefully.

Step 5: Generate your unique ABC ID.

Step 6: Submit the generated ABC ID to your college so that it can be updated in the university records.

Before submitting, ensure that your name, date of birth, Aadhaar details, and educational information match your university records to avoid verification issues.

Common Mistakes Students Should Avoid

Many students face problems during registration because of small mistakes. Here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Do not create multiple ABC IDs
  • Use the same details that are available in your academic records
  • Verify your Aadhaar-linked mobile number before registration
  • Keep your DigiLocker account active
  • Save your ABC ID after generation
  • Submit the correct ID to your college

Taking these precautions can help you avoid delays during examination registration.
