AKTU Lucknow Main Campus B.Tech Admission 2025 Begins – Everything You Need to Know

A big update is here for all engineering aspirants of Uttar Pradesh. Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), Lucknow, which till now was known for managing affiliated colleges across the state, has now opened the doors of its Main Campus in Lucknow for B.Tech courses, starting from the academic session 2025–26.

This article is going to be your complete guide, especially if you are confused about how, where, and when to take admission. So, sit back, read carefully, and don’t skip any line — your dream college could be waiting here.

First Things First – When Did AKTU Main Campus Start B.Tech?

After years of waiting and thousands of student queries, finally in 2025, the Main Campus of AKTU located at Jankipuram Extension, Lucknow, officially started offering B.Tech programs.

Earlier, if anyone asked, “Sir, can we do B.Tech from the AKTU campus?”, the answer used to be no. They would refer you to IET Lucknow or other affiliated institutes. But now, it’s a big yes – the Main Campus is in the game.

Offered Branches and Available Seats

As of now, only 4 branches have been launched, and all of them are high in demand. Here’s the list:

Total Seats: 180

Important to note: They didn’t start core ECE; instead, they started VLSI specialization. It shows the university wants to focus on industry-demanded skills.

Campus Location & Future Plans

The campus is located in Sector-11, Jankipuram Extension, Lucknow, and is very well connected. In fact, it’s just 4 km from IET Lucknow.

But here’s the twist: The university plans to shift the B.Tech program to a new campus in Barabanki (Jahangirabad) in the coming years. Construction is already approved, and the land is ready.

How to Get Admission?

• Admission will happen strictly via JEE Mains Rank.
• The counselling will be conducted under UPTAC 2025.
• Choice Filling is expected to begin after June 30, 2025.
• Make sure to prepare a proper priority list. One wrong choice can waste your entire year.

TFW Seats – Know This Carefully

A lot of students get confused between EWS and TFW (Tuition Fee Waiver) – they are NOT the same.

• TFW is for those whose family income is less than ₹5 Lakh per year.
• It covers only the tuition fee.
• Every branch has approx. 5% seats under TFW.
• Requires a valid income certificate after April 1, 2025.

So, don’t mix EWS and TFW. These are different schemes and follow different eligibility criteria.

Alert! Avoid These Mistakes

• No Management Quota in Government Colleges – if someone says you’ll get admission via money, run away! It’s a scam.
• Private Colleges have 85% seats through counseling and 15% via Management/NRI quota.
• Out-of-UP students can’t participate in Main Round – only eligible for Special Round if seats remain.

Reservation Rules

Also includes sub-categories like UPFF, UPSC, UPAF with 5%–10% as applicable.

Rural Weightage – A Hidden Bonus

If your school is located in a rural village area, you might get an extra 5% advantage during counseling.

But you must have a rural certificate signed by the Principal and verified by the local Tehsil. Make sure to get this ready before choice filling.
